Midnight Crossing

At night alone I wake up to silhouettes on
the walls
of ghosts pointing empty
sleeves.
I sit up startled at my own shadow as the
rumpled sheets map the peaks
and valleys
of my life illuminating parts of me I want
to forget.
Sleep, now a stranger, allows me to view into
a giant chasm with no end in sight
only miles of regret using up all
that I am.
I turn to face my own mortality, grasping
pieces that try to fly away as my
spirit is challenged to an
infinite depth.
Putting my courage on display, I become stronger
at the broken places no longer allowing
yesterday to use up any more of
my tomorrows.

| Another very well wrote piece..Your style I love..Your words keep me hanging on..Not many do here..Glad to see at least another that can..With all these words so well wrote God knows you gotta be worth a poem discussion |
