New Years Lay

It is cold outside,
An unyielding savage wind blasts the icy scenery,
I lie in here beneath covers naked with her,
How I wish I was out there,
Or anywhere else,
Our time has passed,
Driven together in early morn,
Lonliness and booze our triggers,
In this grotesque parody of love,
Mechanically fulfilling biological obligations,
With our mind’s on better times,
And better people,
Lying here thinking of the words to set myself free,
Ships in the night
Waiting for an iceberg.
A New Year,
Same old mistakes.
