So this is the New Year
I can barely keep my head up
Memory doesn’t fade like it used to
They say “don’t live in the past
The dead won’t follow you”
Well jealousy has a face
So you should burn them old polaroids
My ghost doesn’t fade like it used to
They say “never burn a bridge when
The bottle has the best of you”
Hold fast
January is in for a better year
Hold fast
January is in for a better year
“Your in check” she said
And the Queen is already dead
Your more clever then I’m used too
But they say “fight the good fight
And victory will follow you”

Your author's note was as fascinating as this write. I love how you have woven the cliches in and made them so very relevant. Something I can surely relate to. Aren't memories strange? At times they practically assault us from nowhere, but when we would love to revel in them, they are hidden in our deepest recesses and refused to be
coaxed out. Quite an interesting write.
