River Walking

Contributed by darkplaidbabe on Saturday, 1st January 2005 @ 03:18:42 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

we call it the river
though its really just a stream
We used to walk there all the time.
I remember.
The blue-yellow warmth of the setting sun would burn the scenery and turn everything this smoky pink color.
In all my recollection, i don think you ever looked so beautiful.
strands of your firey red hair flew about your radiant face, so sweetly content.
The wind would blow softly, reaching down within me and caressing my soul, and for those few moments, my world was at peace.
Life has changed now.
Your once bright complexion has lost its glow.
The health has been drained from you and you are no longer the same.
I'm sorry you got sick.
I wish it hadn't happened, but it did....and im sorry.
If only i could make you better, i would.
But i can't.
So now i go walking by myself.
I watch the handmade paper boats, like little white angels, follow me down the river, dancing over twigs and rocks.
every once in a while, I even take off my shoes and wade there, but the water seems much colder than it used to be.
sometimes i imagine you're there with me still, maybe you're one of those boats, those tiny guardians.
Thats what they told me at first, that you were with the angels.
Im older now, and i understand death.
but still, i like to think its true.....
because after all, thats what you always were to me,
my angel.
