I have tried to explain it
to make her understand
but she'll never really get it
this I know first hand
she tries to relate to me
understand the things I do
this isn't the way it has to be
she's forced me to be untrue
I hate all the lies
and the way I sneak around
I can always tell when she cries
I know I've let her down
So what should I do
just stop being me
create more lies too
this act she won't believe
so a little advice
if you please
and try to keep it nice
I'm down on my knees!

I liked this...it flows very nicely. The adolescent years are always some of the hardest, you want your freedom as an individual to make your own choices and they still want to protect thier little girl. Its an extremely complicated relationship and it can be very volitile, all i can suggest is that you try and come to a compromise when there seems to be a problem. If what you're doing is so upsetting that you absolutely cannot tell your mother, maybe you really shouldnt be doing it. Just remember, when it seems she wants to do nothing but hold you down, its only because she doesnt want to lose her child.
PM me anytime
sorry i couldnt be more helpful

u have a beautiful flow or rythumn 2 your poetry of
course it's also obvious the turmoil in which u r going through, as 4 individualisum and getting along with any one, let alone your parents, is a verry give and take situation as every one who has somthing 2 do with the arts sooner or later finds out
your parents want the best 4 u but usualy the best is by conventional standards, i went through hell with mine or i should say they went through hell with me, now they r dead and gone, and all i have 2 remember about them is how they fought constantly, with each other, and i was caught in the middle being blamed 4 every thing that went wrong, which only added fuel 2 the fire of my need 2 be different you'll be ok and eventualy beleive it or not it all works out 4 the best, not 2 mention ironicaly, one day u just may be in the same position of athority . . . good luck and keep writting

The teen years are difficult for the teen and the parent(s). They want to maintain some type of open relationship with their child and the child just wants to break loose and go wild. No matter what you think, they are only doing what they think is best. Raising a child is a hard job. Being a decent teen is even harder. Try to maintain some semblence of relationship with her so she won't feel so left out of your life and maybe she will let up some. JMO Dove |
