Sweating the Small Stuff

Thousands and thousands dead and my tragedy is that I could care less,
If I am honest,
My sensitivity eroded to a stub,
I watch pictures on the news and wonder,
When will Tom Cruise save these poor, poor people?
My A.D.D. kicks in,
I turn the channel,
Tom Cruise is there selling Pepsi,
He’s such a nice man,
100,000 wiped out,
It doesn’t sink in,
How can it?
Celluloid numb,
MTV dumb,
Television is the Lithium of the soul,
I catch my self putting salt in my tea,
That was my last tea bag
This provokes reaction more than anything prior,
***** off I slam my cup into the sink,
No sense of perspective I know,
I am not arrogant enough to relate to true calamity,
It’s the small stuff that gets me.
