I
Where Lagan Sream flows slowly by
There rests a soul so fair
No twilight gleam is in his eye
For night has combed his hair
With a heartbroken call
His son cries in vain
No spoken word save his footfall
Will see my sorrow tamed

II
Now gentle sleep is his repose
Sweet silence is all around
And flowers of wild primrose
Lies scattered on his ground
I keep his memory clear
With this lamenting sigh
God was in his haste to have him near
I could not say goodbye

III
For many years by Lagan's side
His love is waiting still
And memories will long abide
In broken hearts until
They meet in his land
And this I can tell
She will smile and take his hand
And whisper my sweet farewell

I know I shouldn't really comment on my poems...but its not actually mine, its my dad's. This is a lovely poem Dad, very heartfelt, very deep. I understand this poem completely and it just makes the poem so much more beautiful to me...I can't relate to it, I can only imagine what it would be like to be in that situation, but I do understand it...the river Lagan was the river by where your dad was buried...primrose his favourite flower. Thank you for showing this to me Dad, and for letting me post it. I am truly honoured.

Love you forever

cat xx
