Soul Cry

Contributed by worldwise on Friday, 31st December 2004 @ 03:02:41 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I will rip my chest open
Then watch the tide recede in me
The moon high overhead beckons
A ritual that is as forthcoming
As a bloodquake high atop a volcano
Here I stand alive
Nude to the treetop stands
And a crowd of swarming bees
My life spilt out the side
Boiling in the pot and beginning to stew
How emotionless is a gaping hole
when the heart clutches on
In the damp cave it calls home
The winds coming down
No longer help it to survive
We scream in passion with envy's lips
As our entrails explode
To show what we all know
But we all just want a new home
The voices all begin to hide behind our eyes
Pitys secret encased in fogged glass
Fixed upon a body that once was light
Here is your essence and you watch it go
Grasping and clenching the next inch of our road
The ice freezes over our knuckles
Until each moment further
Its like needles ripping into your skin
Calmed down only by the dying fire of the night
Enveloped in the silvery violet blankets of a fading cloud in the sky

There are no walls between us now
Except the ones we bring

Wow. The first two lines just pulled me right in, the last line of the first stanza is beautiful, and the end tops it all off. Excellent work.

This one shivered me. Except my experience of it was on a mountainside in the high desert. "We scream in passion with envy's lips." That line just paints it! Cheers!
