I'm standing behind you,
don't you see?
The girl wearing black
who doesn't want to believe.
I'm sitting next to you,
don't you see?
The girl who simply
doesn't want to be.
I'm walking past you,
don't you see?
The girl heading home
to be all alone.
I'm looking right at you,
don't you see?
Just raise your head
from the book that you read.
I'm right in front of you,
don't you see?
In your newspaper,
the obituaries.
I'm all around you now.
don't you see?
I can see you crying,
not wanting to believe.
I watch as you walk into my room.
I smile, but I am sad.
You've finally seen me.
But it's too late for that.
