a wish and a dream

A wish was launched into that ethereal ocean
on a different day, so long ago
a simple prayer, of an ordinary man
wanted only to be happy, here, below
Life is a fickle constant
always, yet never the same
pause but for an instant
you miss your turn in the game
I had beheld beauty that day
so delicate, so light and fair
in this garden of tears, buried far and away
hidden from today, from this world without care
Futilely, vainly, I rail
trying to portray the 'smile'
blundering, my words only fail
serving only to diminish, the joy of the while
So, standing in awe beneath the inky blue
splattered with those specks of hope divine
just tiny dots of dreams to be had; of me, of you
I wonder which is mine
