Walking With The Dark

Contributed by unforgiven on Tuesday, 28th December 2004 @ 05:45:06 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I had to leave this house,
Tension growing insane,
Left to escape outside,
Out swallowed by the dark.

No fear left in my heart,
My mind clear of thoughts,
I walked the asphalt road,
Away from everything and everyone.

People passing in their cars,
Faces hidden by shadows,
Watching with suspicious eyes,
The girl walking with the dark.

Taking the stairs to the beach,
Silence surrounding me with ease,
Walked to a sodden picnic table,
Lay on it's surface to breathe.

And when the waves crashed down,
Roaring against the pull of the ocean,
I thought of you and I,
Tried to cry but no tears came.

My heart became oh so heavy,
As I stumbled home to you,
Knew that it was my last chance,
I was alone,
I was at peace,
Walking with the dark.

A fairly good write ... sometimes the muse leaves us stranded at the verbage bus station from time to time. The emotions flow well here and the ending is wonderful.

peace
