EARTH FETISH

Contributed by KOZMICSPIRID on Monday, 27th December 2004 @ 11:04:43 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I SAT HERE ON MY BATTERED COAST
THINKING ABOUT THE HOLY WARS
MONSTERS WITH LIGHTS RACED ON BY
LEAVING CARBON DIOXIDE BENEATH OUR SKIES
I HEARD THE EARTH BARGAIN AND PLEAD
BUT NO ONE WOULD CONSIDER HER PRECIOUS NEEDS
I FELT MY NECK AND IT'S MANY BEADS
PASSION FOR NATURE I COULDN'T LET GO
WITH A FIRM GRIP ON MY GREEN HUMBLE WORLD
IODINE WAS PRESENT ON THE STRIP OF THE BEACH
MOST OF THESE PEOPLE ARE OUT OF REACH
FEEDING ON A FRENZY
OF POSSESIONS AND MONEY
NOT EVEN THE BEES COULD PRODUCE ENOUGH HONEY
TO FEED THE AFRICAN NATIONS
DROWNING IN STARVATION
AS THE HOUSE OF COMMERCE
PASSED A BILL AGAINST SENSATION
WHAT A ***** UP NATION
SO MUCH FRUSTRATION
SMOOTH ECONOMY
GREED AND POWER
NEED OIL FOR THEIR VEHICLES
EVERY SECOND EVERY HOUR
I HAD TO WAKE UP AND TAKE A COLD SHOWER
WAITING FOR THE TIME
OUR SOULS DESIRE

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
