Sleep My Little Boy
~~~~
Sleep my little boy
Dream of things
That thrills your heart
Rest in peaceful
Fluffy clouds
That rest in God’s loving arms
As the sheep
Jump over fences
Let your sleep be not disturbed
Let the scent
Of fresh flowers
Come through your window with the breeze
Sleep my precious little one
Let God’s love do its work
Wake up to bright sunny skies
Let the covers
Wrap around you
As your puppy snuggles at your feet
Catch my kisses
In the air
As I lean against your door
Be assured
That I’ll be here
When your precious eyes awake
It's good to read a poem that isn't all dark and gloomy. I would like to think sometime in the future I could read poetry like this to my own kids. I just feel so warm after reading it, like there's still good in the world. It's the way I think we'd all like to sleep like that little child, feeling safe. |
