December 26
~~~~
Christmas day has come and gone
Another holiday sang its song
It’s sad to see this one go
Vanishing like a warm days snow
The flickering lights
The decorations galore
Thrilled the hearts
From headlight tours
The Christmas tree
And shinny ribbons
Remind us of
The blessings given
But come December 26
It quickly fades away
As people get back
To a normal day
The floors filled with presents
The dried up punch
The turkey leftovers
We’re having for lunch
The over-tired kids
The batteries needed
Our tempers that can be
Over heated
The electric bills
The tangled-up lights
The children who won’t
Call it a night
The missing pieces
To our brand new games
When will life
Get back to the same?
But those precious kisses
And that excited smile
On our precious kids
Makes it all worth while
Sweet poem. The holidays came by so fast and they finished just as quickly. |
