Fatal Mistake

I had made a mistake,
that fatal mistake,
of allowing people in,
into my head,
at least for awhile.
For there’s much they don’t know
yet already they know too much.
It’s too late to shut the door,
the door to my soul,
yet I’ll give it my all
to exclude them from me.
And go back to the day’s
when I was who I relied on,
the day’s when I had dismissed
everyone else from my life.
The day’s with few pains,
yet few joys.
So I’ll replace my veil
of my frigid mist,
and once again shroud myself
within mystery.
Isolating my heart
from anyone’s grasp ,
distancing myself
from all I hold close.
Then pain will vanish
from both myself and from you.
Now you can give up caring
and it will effect me not,
I’ll return to my life
as the girl you’ve forgot.
