Adrift with Broken Compass

Things happen
and life goes on.
You sit and wait wondering
when your hopes and dreams and thoughts and aspirations will take place,
become true.
The “why’s” and the “how’s” float by,
quickly,
while your mind grasps and clutches at them,
finding some to be like tacks,
and others,
merely unattainable,
slip through your hands like so many grains of sand.
It’s a funny journey we’re on,
this voyage where we think we know the destination,
but really,
we don’t,
so we lie to ourselves,
and to others.
who wants to admit that they’re floating adrift with missing oars and broken compass?

Oh i love the depth of your poems, they are so deep and full of truth and reality, and it's so true who wants to admit that they're floating adrift with missing oars and a broken compass that is such a beautiful write i enjoyed this one alot. It is a beautiful poem, full of so much truth in this life. I must the thankful we have a journey even if I don't have the oars or the compass. The journey is what makes us strong and alive. Thanks for sharing your poem. It really is lovely.
