poised beside the frigid moonlit lake
turning blue beneath the spattered stars
hastening to relate
the fading metaphor
for the slipping moment's vision
The winter aches as fall departs
Her pungent leaves still smelling sweet
of chilly nights 'neath harvest moons
As the shivering naked trees
stand huddled in their despair
Stark against the racing clouds
Muttering distant memories
of warmth and summer bliss
and naked as they
in the cold and dark
i share in their dismay
and slipping to drowse
in hypothermic dreams
do i recall the touch of spring
