One of Those Girls

Contributed by blackmarker on Friday, 24th December 2004 @ 12:39:56 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I feel like one of those girls that you see
Wandering the streets,
Nothing but vacant eyes and
Dirty, stringy hair,
Babbling on about the things that
Nobody understands but them.
Crying and laughing,
Choking out sobs.
Broken fingernails scratching carelessly
At the festive store windows,
Searching for something -
Anything -
To give them back the life they once led.
I feel like one of those girls,
Strung out on crack,
Dropping her pants to make a quick buck.
I feel like one of those girls,
Without the drugs or the sex;
But one of those girls.
Broken and empty inside,
Longing for moments long passed,
Willing to give up anything
For an instant of exquisite bliss.
I feel like one of them.
Tired.
Hurt.
Hungry.
Tired of wanting all the things I can’t have.
Hurt from all of the wrong choices.
Hungry for happiness and the bygone years.
I feel like one of those girls.
One of those lost souls,
Searching for salvation.
One of those girls.
