Doves may soar nigh the heavens,
Amoungst a celestial Sol.
Fish of angels glide in sapphire oceans,
Swim in diamond springs.
Ah, we, plastered in between,
Pasted to a stricken earth,
Nailed hand and foot,
Bound by rusted shackles,
Gagged by candied words,
Held without a word of protest.
Choking on soil and dust,
Crawling through a lifeless plain,
Suffocating in discontent.
Parched throats rasp in despiration.
Only now unheard.
To watch the eagle glide away,
Raising a wrinkled hand to its call.
A doleful tune; a sad farewell,
To the lost ones.
