The Raven Memories

Contributed by taintedsoul on Wednesday, 22nd December 2004 @ 09:52:15 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Haunting memories that resurface
with a vengeance –
even after years of hibernation.

It’s been sixteen years, two months,
six days and three hours since they
had to say goodbye –
but who’s counting time.

One might say it was a Romeo
and Juliet situation –
but both still wander this earth, alive.

At least, she hopes he is still
within this realm.

Where did the raven go, the one
with the pale blue eyes –
lost to her throughout time, forced to say goodbye.

Many regrets fill her life,
but the one which raises its
head from time to time –
when she should have gone by.

It’s been thirteen years, two months
and six days since the phone call
came –
no, she’s not counting the days.

She still sits and wonders why she never
stopped in –
only passed by in hopes of a glimpse of who sits inside.

No, she doesn’t count the days and hope
that the phone rings again. Nor does she
reach out in hopes that he might hear
her calling to him –
whispering her apologies to the wind.

Where did the raven go after all this time?
She whispers to the night.

This is so sad...Thinking about the days past and longing to regain what was lost is devastating to go though. Great poem.
