A Mistake That I Have Made

“A Mistake That I Have Made” - by J. Samuelson©2001 03/17

A bitter tasting memory
The way that I was used
Lies and lack of effort
I was so confused.

I’m glad it all has ended
Can’t say I miss a thing
No more misconceptions
No more tears to sting.

Thank God it is all over
I never will look back
Truth and trust and honesty
Were all that she did lack.

Never took the time to see
What I was all about
Much too selfish in her ways
And now I have no doubt.

The love I thought I had found
Could not have been that true
Because it’s fading quickly
She helped me with that too.

Her cold and changing attitude
Was always like the wind
She made me feel so desperate
Like I had somehow sinned.

She made me feel so happy
And then she changed her mind
It was a game she liked to play
I’m now no longer blind.

I’m wise to how unstable
And deceptive that she is
I ‘m over hanging on now
To all the lies she said.

I’ve left it all behind me
A Mistake That I Have Made
Some day it will catch up to her
Now her memory will fade.

I’ve learned a perfect lesson
She taught it very well
If you get the same lines
Don’t waste your time, it’s hell.

So now she’ll be forgotten
A Mistake That I Have Made
I’m sure she’ll strike another man
And rain on their parade.

Lead them on, and knock them down
It’s how she likes to play
A Mistake That I Have Made
Thank God, she’s gone to stay.
