The Serpent Within
Oh portly serpent at the gate
awaiting distant limbs demise
Anticipate with hollow frame
abysmal fall of feathered wren
Tethered soul of he who waits
Ensnared within complacent dreams
Questions not himself nor who
Much as the wren and unaware
Wren take of withered height
a lesson learned begotten yet
For caste and plunge respite regret
hast thou surrendered to lost hope
Forlorn romance as yet not found
so gullible are thee in idle mind
Surmise of what think thy need
When’st it comes thy flesh decay
Teacher waits your inner will
yet within you spar in empty ring
Apparitions grasp the being of self
and disorient the fragile soul
Thine will encounter gnome along the way
heed his words of all that is
Earthly dreams are merely that
and the whole of you is who you are
The wren so melds into the soil
Yet meld you not
For grand of you
into the bright of evermore

Old fashioned verse and dialogue. "disorient the fragile soul" is my favorite phrase here. Cheers!
