The Card

Contributed by pixie on Wednesday, 22nd December 2004 @ 01:30:09 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

He wrote a card to his little girl,
Who he misses being in his world,
He didn’t know what to write,
As nothing sounded quite right.

He hasn’t seen her for awhile you see,
His heart throws out a daily plea,
But not with his expression or words,
As to speak about it that would hurt.

But I can see it in his eyes,
I know his insides let out cries,
If on the TV screen a girl appears,
I can almost feel his un-fallen tears.

He sat at the table with pen in hand,
He didn’t want to make the card seem bland,
Even though he’s not seen her for so long,
He wants her to know in his heart she belongs.

Yet how can you explain the pain to a child,
Who’s thoughts of her Dad have been left to run wild,
She doesn’t know him anymore,
As to seeing her his ex closed the parental door.
