he could barely get the strength up
to tell the chaplin about his life
but he had to let him know
that, back home, he had
two babies and a wife
they'll have to learn, he left
to be in a better place
and if Jesus has His hand in it
he'll leave with dignity and grace
oh, God bless the soldier
who answers the call
who takes our place in battle
to win freedom for all
and, God bless the soldiers
may we honor their call
there's no other place on earth
like the land of
America
he served his country
he did the best that he could do
he fought the fight
he did his job
and did what he said, he would
no one serves Her in vain
no, not one single one
for every soul that falls down
we lift them up to the Son
oh, God bless the soldier
who answers the call
who takes our place in battle
to win freedom for all
and, God bless the soldiers
may we honor their call
there's no other place on earth
like the land of
America
so God bless the soldiers
and God bless them all
God bless the soldiers
and God bless
America
