You Promised

Contributed by FaithHope on Saturday, 30th November 2002 @ 07:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

You promised,
But you didn't keep it,
You said we would get together,
But you didn't mean it.
It tears my heart apart,
When a promise isn't kept,
My hope's soar when you say, "you promise"
Only to come crashing down again.
Why must you do this to me?
For it hurts me deep inside,
Every little promise you don’t keep,
Is like the oceans surging tide.
I always give you another chance,
And when you promise again,
Part of my hearts tells me it was the wrong thing to do,
The other tells me it's right.
But as usual you have an excuse waiting,
And my heart breaks again,
Maybe it is time for me to face,
When you say, "I promise"
You don't really mean it.

Promises unkept can not only
break one's heart deeply but it can
also break one's spirit inside. I've
been promised so many things
i can't even count them on my hands
and not one of them was kept. Thanks
for sharing this one it reminded me alot
of my past. Keep em' coming

It hurts a lot when people immerse you with false hope and broken promises. I really enjoyed this, I thank you for sharing.

Take care
R.
