My Golden Friend

Topic: PetPoems

My Golden Friend
Your coat glistening in the sun
Rays of Golden bliss reflecting off it
Brightening my day
You the silent friend
Always agreeing with me
Bringing warmth and comfort
Seeing the truth thru the lies
Repairing my wounds
Majestic you are
Almost God like
Yet the day came
The day were it turned dark
No longer did your coat glisten gold
No longer did you come to me
I knew the time had come
But I was not ready
Not ready to let the light stop shining
Not ready to let my friend go
But in the silence I saw you
Your eyes staring at me
And I heard the truth
As if you had spoken it to me
You told me it was your time
And that you would always be there somewhere
With one last hug
And one last goodbye
You left me
But I still see you here
By my side you sit
Head held high
Full of pride
Knowing that you would never be forgotten
☼ My Golden Friend ☼
