Morning Kiss

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Tuesday, 21st December 2004 @ 03:21:03 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

We are no more than silhouettes, side by side
When light has not yet tiptoed to the window
Awake I watch the contented rise and fall of your breathing
Feel your heartbeat as I hold you close

In the cradle of my arms your sleeping sighs
Caress the still night air that lies inside
Too soon the day will be restored
The whole divided into two, to resume our daily lives

The gentlest touch upon your face
Did I climb to heaven on a trail of stars ?
This beauty in slumber on the pillow of my chest
Placed like an angel, as sentry I watch over you

Could I stop all time to capture these moments ?
Hold back advancing hours with the strength of a wish
Like a picture from a camera, locked in forever
I would gladly bear eternity, consider it a prize

As day begins to paint the room
The whisper of I love you falls from my lips
I lose myself once more in the mystery of your eyes
As your mouth touches mine in a morning kiss
