first date

Contributed by shampoo_in_my_bed on Saturday, 30th November 2002 @ 04:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

First date in six years leads to a few more but hasn’t really gone any where relationship wise or otherwise
I spend hours listening to stories about her and her past. Vaguely interested by her semi unique tales
I begin to notice the lack of interest in my own yarns I begin to wonder if she’s just here for a free diner or worst yet someone to be nice to her.
My passion, my feelings are obviously becoming secondary.
Date ends a few calls here and there always instigated by my on going attempt to not be alone
Taste of defeat in my mouth. I go to the local drunk tank where people learn to be loud and obnoxious.
I am something of a legendary folk hero here.
Alas I get another blow of biblical proportions.
The girl of my recent fancy and the low moral aptitude is there.
Within minutes of drunkenness my roommate and close friend was asked by the temptress if he would like to go out and supplied with the digits to seal his fate.
You’d think this would leave me in a horrible state
But I am numb
He slowly and cautiously informs me the day after what I have already deduced.
I start to question my own motives, did you really like her for her or just because you don’t want to be a lone anymore?
I vaguely recall that I really liked her and then quickly changes my answer to I wanted company.
I don’t know what the truth is anymore looking at an email from her today saying she hasn’t seen me for a while and asking how I am and how thanksgiving was.
How do I reply to that? Knowing as I write this my buddy and her are currently out on a date.

Oh this is so...i dont know..different. What a story, and it's really sad but yet it's not. I mean who can help it if they feel this way??...And then at the end staring at her email not knowing what to say knowing that your buddy and her are out on a date at that moment, i dont even know if i would have responded to an email knowing that. But then again if you didnt like her what does it hurt...I dont know, this poem gives one alot to think about. It's a great write. Thanks for sharing this one. Keep em' coming

This is a good write, paints a picture with ease, puts the reader where everyone has been, inside every crazy, lonely heart.
