Maybe not be my biological father but your my dad

I got told I look at the world through a dark and twisted way,
It’s true so that is why I did not bother to say,
I have negative tendencies, big deal,
It’s not like you bother to really understand how I feel.
You leave my views in tatters because you don’t understand,
I try to explain but your attention is too much of a demand.
Our discussions turn into full shouting wars, just so we can be heard.
You think my ideas and values are so absurd.
I have my opinions like you taught me to,
Now you tell me my opinion doesn’t count, only when you want it to.
You give me freedom when you feel like it,
I am nearly an adult, this you have to admit.
I may one day leave the nest, but I will always be your little girl.
I know at times I have been quite the tiresome whirl.
Just remember it was all worthwhile,
To keep seeing your little girl smile.
I may not be that innocent little girl you meet nearly 12 years ago,
And sometimes lost my sweet little glow.
Deep down I am still that child; you just don’t bother to look,
Thinking I’m busy with some guy or college book.
I may resist a little when you hug me, but you know I like it really.
I do love you so deeply…
How long is it going to take you to realise that you really are my
Proper DAD?
