Fade to Nothing

I stand alone
And count the cost
Of romances gone
And lovers lost
And as the sun
Sets in the west
I'll fade to nothing
Like the rest

Shall I stand by
While my heart's broken
By all the tears
And words unspoken...
I've been shattered
Many times before
I simply can't
Take anymore

Somewhere inside
I feel my soul
Once it was warm
Now it is cold
It once glowed red
Now it burns black
If I could live again
I'd take it back

Now I'm a shell
An effigy
I'm nothing like
What I used to be
Where there was laughter
Now there is pain
Where my heart was calm
Now it is strained...

In fate's grand scheme
I may play a role
But love's grand scheme
Has taken it's toll
and sure as my heart
Throbs in my chest
She'll fade to nothing...
...as did the rest.

Wow..i haven't had many experiences with love except my first love of 2 years. It feels as if I'm dying inside sometimes...and I know how it feels to never want to love again because of the pain. Awesome Write.
