True Honesty
~~~~
I don’t believe in true honesty
For few can keep that act up for very long
I don’t believe each line I hear
In every heartbreaking country song
There are usually two sides of every story
Two half spoken truths
Enless you know their hearts
There is no real proof
I’ve stopped trying to figure
What side of the road to be on
I’ve stopped trying to figure
If you’re coming or if you’re gone
Honesty is a thing of the past
Deception has taken its place
It’s a shame it turned out like this
In this human race
Struggle, yeah I may
But this heart will never believe
That anyone is completely honest
And that loved-ones will never leave
Call me a realist
Call me a fool
But living in denial
Is the cruelest kind of cruel
Nice write. My own view is that it's so hard to ever completely know yourself and your own reasons, so how can you be completely truthful about yourself when your so complicated? That said, I do my best and I think *most* people do. But there is a difference between mistaking motivation and actually distorting what is *fact* There are intentional liars among us. There are also those who fool themselves into believng what they want, regardless of the truth. The last two types are what cause all the problems.
Mostly people write their stories for others to identify with; at least for the period of time in which they are hurting.
Still, skepticism is the beginning of wisdom, so you're right there.
I like the last four lines the best.
Cheers!
