Soul's last breath

Contributed by blueeyedevil13 on Friday, 17th December 2004 @ 10:53:06 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

When death takes hold in his steel grip
He cheats you out of your last breath
So he can breathe a little longer

He welcomes those who die for him
Almost lovingly does he open his arms to them
Waiting for them to run into his arms
Like a long lost lover
But most do not smile at him
Instead turn away and weep for what they lost
A rash decision committed in a single second

Like prisoner they talk to life
A vistor behind unbreaking glass
While Death watches from a darkened corner
Behind jelous eyes he watches
A long row of forgotten souls
Screaming to be heard from their graves

The living refuse to hear
Turns their backs on their dead
Saying to them with one last glance
"We're still here, don't haunt us, We'll soon be re-united"

And for me I was re-united with the people I love most
Death asked me for my last breath
I willingly gave it to him so he could breathe a little longer
He gave me the kiss of life so we could breathe together
This is my Soul's Last Breath.

Sometimes death is a refuge from living and it is also just the next step our souls take along their journey. Profound, soulful write.

peace
