Life Interupted

Contributed by deadreckoning1983 on Thursday, 16th December 2004 @ 02:27:50 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Peace comes like a rock.
Cracking the skull,
Bleeding thru the hair.
The shrapnel mixes with the fibers.
Mingling with tissue and essence.
It hits me hard, shattering my thoughts,
Interrupting my pattern of depression.
Watching the cat and dog wrestle,
A sparring match to go into the history books.
The cat is up, only to get knocked down again.
It's the simple human behaviors in life that amuse me the most.
Professional sports for instance,
Grown men being paid millions to play a game,
A game children play,
And then demanding to be paid millions more.
So we pay, like idiots, like clones.
Or how we can spend our whole lives chasing,
Something; nothing, a mist, a shadow, a myth.
Why can't we relax and live a life,
Unincumbered and lacking complexity.
Many though, feed on the drama,
Hoping the new day brings confrontation.
Only leading to teary nights and heated days.
Suicides, killings, scraps of a tattered life,
The remains picked clean by a career, by disatisfaction.
A life of promise turned grey and dull.

"Why can't we relax and live a life,"

I have a life !!! I do !!! Really !!! But I'll be danged if I can figure out how to relax in it. So many time demands and constraints. I like the way this makes me think of simpler times and much more amicable people.

A little explosion of PTSD at the beginning? It read like it, hard-hitting and vivid. This is so good:

Or how we can spend our whole lives chasing,
Something; nothing, a mist, a shadow, a myth.
Why can't we relax and live a life,
Unincumbered and lacking complexity.

Humans are complex in nature, no?
