From Fear to Freedom

Contributed by bobotheclown on Thursday, 16th December 2004 @ 01:08:01 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

I've walked these long miles
And now these storm clouds are settling
I'm so tired and I dwell in silence
The silence only broken by
The steady splatter of my tears
Optimism fades away to pessimism
(Can you see the razor reflected in my eyes?)

Bloodied fingers caress my tear-stained cheeks
As I'm left wishing for yesterday
Practicing the art of self-rejection
And trying to shed this skin that I hate
Made poignant by the blood that drips from my arms,
But all it amounts too is failed attempts
(Failed attempts at what, a constant rumour)

Immobilized by the winds of depression
Just a breath, but more than I can handle
I use dust to clot my gaping wounds
And use the pain to head off my emotional wounds
Bitterness shrinks my heart to a blackened hole
Daggers in my head pushing me closer to insanity
(Although some would argue I've already reached that "goal")

Almost intoxicated by this hatred that consumes me
Crying tears of self-pity and broken pride
Groveling in the dust begging myself to forgive me
Touching my scars that keep me whole,
But revolted at the pain they bring
Go underground so I can hide from my shadow
(But I can never escape from these voices)

Kneeling in this wet soil I whisper fervent prayers
To my Lord to free me from my fear and timidity
You gather me in Your arms and whisper
"You are my son in whom I am well pleased"
Tears roll down my face... healing tears
I lay my pain and depression at your feet
My sin is taken, forgotten, I am forgiven and I am made FREE
(I should've done this at the start)

There is indeed wonderful hope at the end of your poem.
Very well-expressed....no matter how deep the darkness and pain- God's love reaches deeper, deeper still.

very well written, very clearly explained
It does start out dark, but it flows through the emotions
I think that this poem speaks out to many people, and I thank you for writing this poem..

This is very good. Its written very well and I like it a lot.
I didn't really go for the ending, but thats just because of my personal beliefs, and hey, you didn't write this for me. XD
The line: "(Can you see the razor reflected in my eyes?)" Is amazing. Great work! (^_^)v

You took me from the depths of despair right to the heights of heaven. It is at our darkest hours that we can see the light most clearly........if we take the time to look ;o)
Excellent
