GENOCIDE-THE HORROR-THE SHAME…(©Peter Sprenkeler)
The authorities sit on their hands…a diplomatic farce,
While thousands die…ethnic cleansing has emerged yet again.
The Sudan the horrific location…on this occasion,
Such are the inhumanitarian deeds of heartless men.
Black Africans are the target of this deliberate barbarism,
The ‘Janajaweed’…the assailants it is alleged and claimed.
The eradication of this race is their grizzly scheme,
At ownership of another’s land…this ruthless plan is aimed.
Hard to differentiate whom is more guilty,
The perpetrators…or those whom sit idly by?
Villages are raised…women are raped,
Of diplomatic ineptness this does clearly testify.
This is genocide…and the world watches it occur,
Little if anything of value is being done.
The bodies pile up…the horror continues,
The crimes and bodies bloat…in the searing African sun.
Humanitarian shame in its most brutal form,
The lessons of Rwanda have obviously not been learned.
Tens of thousands suffer and die…as the West dithers,
Our guilt and shame…is appropriate and duly earned.
The perpetrators are guilty of crimes of commission,
Of omission we are guilty…we have not done a thing.
We have watched unaffected…as our fellow humans are butchered,
The song of our apathy…continues to loudly sing.

The rhymes in this are good, I feel it more about the content, than the sound and flow. But what makes this poem lose its 'beauty' so to speak, is the un-even pattern of which it is layed out and prenounced.
I agree with the content, its very thought provoking and powerful in it meaning.
But as a poem, it does little for me.
Take care x |

Unique yet very out going, and a pouring of feeling, still found this to be an excellent write...each word found painted a new meaning...opening the poem into a raw divilge of a worlds poison...cool poem. |
