My Man Falls Apart

My man falls apart
held together only by dirty sheets.
My man falls apart
as morning breaks
through his bedroom window.
My man falls apart
as he has no sense of who he is.
My man falls apart
as Health knocks on the window
wanting
needing to get in.
My man closes the curtain.
Safe,
he thinks,
in his twisted security
that I will always be there
with a rag,
a mop,
and
a bucket
to clean up the mess that is him.
But me,
I'm held together by straw,
brittle and dry,
only allowed little pieces of me
to fall
and be stuffed back in.
(I clean up my own mess)
Why can't I fall apart?
Who will be there to pick up
my pieces?
No one.
(What about him?)
No,
he's not strong enough
and besides
too much has already been about him,
remember?
My man falls apart.

I guess at least you know why he is the way he is...that he is the weak one and you are stronger. You don't fall apart because it's not your nature and you know you are great inside. Bent is not the same as broken. Keep writing it out. Tiffany J. (Red_October) |
