Sidewalks

Topic: selfstruggles

All my life I have walked on them
Yet once you came, you helped me off onto something new
Into the streets you led me by the hand
Where real “fun” could happen you said!
Only after you had taken me, there you disappeared
Where have you gone, ohh please please return!
All alone watching, helpless as the world rushes by
Something brushes past me, fear fills my very soul!
I cry out for help and only the wind answers my desperate call
Terror and fear begin to consume me…
I gaze forward, determined to press on
Only I can’t stand, for so many surround me!
Pushed down again and again by so many
Only to realize that I will never return to you!
That feeling causes me to stop struggling and go limp
For I know that losing you is far worse than any physical pain!
I look up, for the beating has abated
A bright Angel stood alone above me, for she was brighter than the sun!
As she leaned down to help me up
I gaze into her deep eyes, and realize
She isn’t you!
