I’m no Superman for I can’t fly
Yet my dreams soar higher than the sky
I can’t outrun a speeding bullet
Yet I’m brave enough to smile at Death
I’m no Superman for I can’t fight
Yet my courage fights for what is right
I can’t leap tall buildings with one bound
Yet your love makes my world turn around
I’m no Spiderman climbing a wall
But I’m strong enough to catch your fall
I don’t have the sense of a spider
But I’ll keep you away from danger
I don’t have Spiderman’s super strength
But I’ll love you for a lifetime’s length
I don’t have Spiderman’s grace and speed
Your love gives me everything I need
I’m no Batman to own such money
But I’ll be here to make you happy
I don’t have a mansion or a cave
Still, you’re the love whom I’ll always save
I don’t have Batman’s car or his plane
But I’ll do my best to ease your pain
And love you ‘till the end of my days
Wearing no mask that would hide my face
Heroes are not measured by their strength
But by how much sacrifice they have spent
To give up more than fame or money
And be the man that they choose to be
Heroes have their own limitations
Forever bound by expectations
Living life away from being free
We’re all heroes if we want to be
I can’t do the things that heroes do
But I won’t be me if not for you
I’m no Clark Kent, nor Peter Parker
But I choose to love you forever

It's a poem with a solid vision. Some of the meter and rhyming feels a bit forced on occasion, but on the whole, it feels from the soul and paints its image well. |
