Afraid of the Dark

Contributed by Iesha on Tuesday, 14th December 2004 @ 11:35:12 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I hear the sounds echoing into the dead of night.
I can feel nor sense anyone there for me.
My silent cries fall on deaf ears.
I see the shadowed figures dodging in and out of view.
None stay to stand beside me.
I hear their faint whispers bouncing from the shadows.
Yet none come out and talk to me.
I know they hear my cries going out to them, but none listen to the pain in the cries.
The small shadows start to grow and surround me, I cry to the shadowed figures.
They do not even hear me anymore.
The darkness stiffles my pleas.
I can't escape the dark.
Will no one help to release me?
I wish the shadowed figure would come to me.
Will no one shed a beam of hope upon my anguished soul?
I can't take the darkness anymore.
I fear the cold darkness, but I fear facing it alone more.
I jump into the dark, it is all gone.
I have jumped into the dark, never to return.
I am dead.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
