The Night Before Christmas
~~~~
Outside the winds blowing
There’s snow on the ground
Decorated houses lit up
And cheer all around
Carolers singing
In sweet harmony
Songs to praise
Our Savor to be
Trees are glowing
With tinkling lights so bright
Oh how their beauty
Lights up the night
Children are making
Men made of snow
Laughter surrounds me
Wherever I go
Families are ice skating
In Rockefeller square
There is no denying
This time of the year
Then out in the distance
A flash of light
As a foreign object
Comes into sight
From one house to another
It lands on their roof
Leaving proof of his coming
With the track of each hoof
With a fat jolly driver
Carrying a big stuffed red bag
To the brick chimney
I watched as it sagged
And before I could blink
That fat man was gone
It happen so quickly
It made me alarmed
Then in a moment
He suddenly appeared
Tarnished with soot
From ear to ear
With the pull of the reins
His sleigh took off
To the next house
I heard his cough
One by one
Each house was filled
With gifts and toys
O’ what a Yield
And I heard he exclaim
Before he drove out of sight
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night
The Night Before Christmas
