Shadows of Youth

Contributed by little_genna on Monday, 13th December 2004 @ 01:39:56 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

A disturbed child beginning to flourish into a beautiful adult,
The hard changes and choices she has to make,
The parents stand in the shadows of youth watching their results.
Wishing they could help, yet knowing they cannot for her sake.

She takes many misguided paths,
Yet in time she reaches her desired destination,
Along the way she endures many a sadness or laughs.
She is never quite sure of the reason.

She finds many friends along her way,
Yet none to this day have stayed by her side,
Feels like in the end they walk a different pathway.
They leave but not because she lied.

Already she has gone through more pain than most at a tender age,
Survived her troubles and youthful trials.
She locked her heart away in a cage,
Her once immature emotions now at higher levels.

With every step she takes she becomes stronger,
Her one ambition in life is to help those around her,
She wishes to find the place where she belongs.
Her words start to make their meaning much deeper.

Her locked away heart is trying to break through its enclosure,
It yearns to have its warmth back,
It knows that others are better.
Now it feels its time to be rid of the black.
