Light of My Day

I sit and gaze at the rising morning light
Though my thoughts are lost in a different sight
Visions of perfection dance in my head
I hear softly spoken words that she has said
And I smile to myself for I am grateful for my gift
Of woman so right, her wrongs I completely miss
Lost in her kiss, her touch full of bliss
It's as if the things we've said mean nothing compared to this
I am so wrong for this woman, if only she could see
But do I really want her to find the bad in me?
I expose myself to her, I rip open my soul
But she still holds me near, mending the hole
Does she not know? Will she ever grow?
Beyond the likes of me and my life so low?
I hold her down, I feel it.. but I love her more than ever
I dream of keeping her in my arms and holding her forever
But I should set her free to roam and find a rightful soul
One that she won't have to fix and make him whole
Is it so bad that I need her as the completing piece of me?
The most important thing to drive me to be.. the man I can be?
Dearest Angel of my love, this is the truest of words I speak..
I want to keep you because I need you, I can simply say
You are the brightest light in my darkest of days

You remind me of someone I once knew.
Relationships that are worth keeping are worth working at. If you both want it badly enough, you'll do what it takes to have something that is fair and satisfying to you both. I hope you can work it out. This is a heartfelt and lovely write.

Another beautiful poem just like the others. You will never cease to amaze me. Never give up on the feelings expressed above. Times change, people change, but the love in your heart will remain untainted as long as you allow it. |
