Months spent in the comfort
Of knowing that you would be there
Hard to imagine it
Any other way
Didn't ever think
It would have to be another way
Conflict rises
The conclusion?
A stolen heart returned to its owner
Tattered and in pieces
I never wanted it back
In the first place
Time passes and a ring once worn for so long
Is returned to my hand after a lengthy absence
It feels awkward
Heavy on my finger
Now I know I'll be okay
And returning to ring to its box
Doesn't hurt so much anymore
