Shade of Grey

Contributed by wyrd_faerie on Wednesday, 27th November 2002 @ 12:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

You see your face in the misty water
Yet you know that it’s not there
Wounded flesh framed with the velvet
Of a knowing blackened stare
Black paint surrounds her eyes
Leather braided in her hair
As a ripple makes it black again.

You’re drowning now in the pool of your sorrow
Trying to struggle through today, only to reach tomorrow
You try to find the final turn in this never-ending maze
And you play the final piece on this useless life game
Trying to keep up this charade, this life-long play
As your life changes back to that fateful shade of grey.

Screaming with the joy in a voice of regret
You’re standing outside and you’re worshipping the rain
Washing the tears off your weeping flesh
A constant reminder of yesterday’s pain
Dancing with insanity, gasping for breath
You blink, and the memory’s lost again.

Excellent write! It reminds me of someone I once knew. I'd love to see you do a tiny bit of tweaking on it. You'd have a real gem here!

you made this seem so real... absolutely amazing. This needs no 'tweaking' Loved the line 'Washing the tears off your weeping flesh' created such imagery. Amazing as always.
