the supernatural

Did you know that roses are, white
in moonlight? Sat in the shadow of
a gigantic horse, which I had painted
chestnut brown and since the sky was
insipid I painted it blue and stuck
a yellow circle in one corner… But
as the horse’s shadow stretched out
on the field where it grazed and peed
aromatic liquid clover I couldn’t stop
thinking that in moonlight roses are
necromantic pale and tell no tale
about the future.
