Voices raised in solidarity
Fists raised against hypocrisy and hate
Differences put aside
One against Bush's foreign policy
Holding him accountable
For the tragic abuses
Of our brothers and sisters in Iraq
You've covered up their eyes with lies
Covered your lies with empty words
Covered your mistakes with ignorant remarks
We WILL stand tall against you
We will NOT be silenced
Until the military aggression
And intolerance comes to an end
Until the prisoner abuses
Are rectified and those guilty
Pay for their sickening crimes
When those are met
Only then will we be quiet

Yes, he should be held accountable for everything that has happened. He is the President of this beleaguered country and it is his responsibility to take action to prevent these heinous acts. Excellent write, Joel, absolutely excellent.

i strongly disagree with ritas opinion that all blame falls on one person. he might be the president but he doesnt have control over every thing. that is like people blaming everything on God. its purely ridiculus. i think there was no point in going about the iraq thing the way we did, but since we did, we just have to stick by the decision. i dont want to see all the people who have bled have done so in vain and have their blood wasted
and their lives taken. i think a simple plan of action could have been instigate a rebellion and then step out. it is their country.
but about your poem. i dont like bush that much either, and i didnt like kerry either. of course nadar is out of the question. but the point is, i do not want this country falling to tatters just because of one man. its going to be abraham lincoln madness all over again.
the government uses lies to get the desired effect, it is supposed to be in the peoples best interest. but hey its easy to complain, but harder to change the way things are. |

Essentially9, the worst thing I know is that I might be shipped off to Iraq, and if I die there, I will have died for nothing more than a lie. I care more about the soldiers that are living there than those that died.
Good write. And I'll never be silent. |

Essentially9 first of all thanks for posting on
my poem. I agree with DJ the soldiers that are
dying are dying because of lies and paranoia.
It's sad that they are, but that's the truth of the
matter. Life seems cheap to the current U.S.
regime. Also, I disagree with you the blame
DOES fall on one man. Pres. Bush the
commander in chief ordered these men to go
to war. Therefore, all of the Iraqi. U.S., British,
and other coalition members deaths indirectly
falls on Bush. Hitler started WW II and those
millions of deaths indirectly fall on him. Also,
a country just can't attack another country
merely because they disagree with the leader
if that was the case then we would live in a
scarier world than we do now. You could
argue the CIA had faulty intelligence, but I
doubt one of the best secret service agencies
in the world could've gotten it that wrong that
says to me that Bush and his administration
LIED and Bush's hands are tainted with red.
Sorry I'm done ranting...

I couldn't agree more Joel on either your poem nor your respose ... my father fought a similar war in Viet Nam ... Many men did, and many men died. As a nation we learned from our mistakes ( our treatment of our soldiers upon their return ) ... yet the cause of war is a very difficult one to justify. That is why I tend to stay away from writes of this nature. But you wrote well enough to get me to read it all the way throuh, and I felt the need to say thank you ... both to you for these words and all members of this nation's armed forces ... living ... or dead.

Bush is still prez
