December in California

I cannot believe how beautiful this December is,
here in Santa Cruz.
While I am used to the rude December mornings of the mid west,
I awaken here to sunny days and short sleeved shirts.
Turning my face towards the breeze,
I keep the hair out of my eyes.
Will I ever learn to truly appreciate soft moments for what they are?
undetermined,
and unjudged,
like a perfect mixture of beer and pot,
lying on the beach,
smoking a cigerrette.
