What Love Is...

Contributed by ButchCorpuz on Thursday, 9th December 2004 @ 07:56:21 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Love can be such a strange thing
For it contradicts everything
It can give your life a new meaning
Or leave your lonely heart bleeding

It’s hard to find but easy to lose
It can deliver good or bad news
It can hurt you from dusk to dawn
Or teach you how to move on

Love is blind but it makes you see
It can imprison you or set you free
It turns a pagan into a believer
And turns a faithful into a deceiver

Love is a gift and love is life
Love is a curse, full of strife
Love is wrong yet love is right
Smiles by day yet haunts by night

Makes the deaf hear the unspoken
And leaves the hearts of men broken
It forces your heart to understand
Or gives pain you cannot withstand

Love is nothing but a contradiction
It loses your way yet gives direction
Love can entertain and amuse
Love can perplex and confuse

Love can make life worthwhile
Love can leave your heart in exile
Whether love is good or love is bad
Love can laugh each time you’re sad

Love can make you cry all alone
Or make you live life on your own
Makes you seem like a true winner
Or leaves you to be the perfect loser

It gets things right or sets them wrong
Makes you weak or makes you strong
Love can give or take away the pain
Enlightens you yet drives you insane

Love can mend and love can divide
It gives you pain or pleasure inside
Love is an answer yet it questions why
Makes you happy then makes you cry

Love can make you laugh or mourn
Or make you wish you were never born
Love can convince and love can deceive
It can make you stop wanting to live

Love can turn the truth into a lie
It can say hello or bid you goodbye
You cannot find it but it finds you
Makes you feel love you never knew

Only for a moment love can stay
Before you know, it is on its way
It lets you know but makes you doubt
Love is something we can’t live without

Love is either too early or too late
It fills your life with bliss or hate
Love can make you stupid or smart
Fills up your heart, then tears it apart

Love can teach you how to pray
Or make you curse every single day
Upon our lives love goes in and out
I guess that’s what love is all about

Love can turn your world around
Or leave your heart on the ground
Love maybe a gift from God above
But never again will I fall in love

I adore this poem! It makes you feel every emotion displayed. The poem sucks you up and then spits you out. The level of imagination is so compex that you don't even notice it. Great Write.
