Bitter winds

Contributed by lostinmyself on Thursday, 9th December 2004 @ 03:22:14 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Do you remember the promises,
all those things that all would say?
Never challenged by a thought or whim,
of what may come some day,
In days of happy memories,
and simple problems solved,
Those days were commonplace to me--
the days were never cold.

But all those distant reminders,
of 'I'll never go away'
Are stolen away by a wind,
which could taint the nicest day,
And the clouds turn dark and stormy,
but there's never any rain,
Even though I wish with all my heart,
for it to wash away the pain.

So instead I'll sit here waiting,
as only I can do,
For those hollow distant happy times,
to blow back to me and you,
And that distant ray of sunshine,
that lights the cloudy sky,
May come closer for a moment,
before passing gayly by.

And maybe on some distant day,
the winds will change again,
But I do not think for the moment,
I shall dwell on where or when,
Because for now the dark clouds have to stay,
as you silently wave goodbye,
A shadow alone beside you,
but resolve hidden in your eyes.

And I'll pray that you'll be back here soon,
as really you should be,
And I'll try to keep your absence,
from weighing down on me,
But every single sunny day,
I happen now to find,
I know a distant part of me,
will want you by my side.

And I hope I don't sound strange to you,
as I wipe tears from my eyes,
As I speak this little piece to you,
instead of a goodbye,
But I could not let you go,
without telling you you are in my heart,
And we'll all be here waiting for you,
when you no longer want to be apart.

Wherever the winds take you, find peace along the way,
And always know that here, there 'll be a place for you to stay.
I wish you all to know, that I love you, fare you well,
And I'll hear your name every time, bitter winds do swell.

(Goodbye...)

wow Phil that was so moving, if they all had a read of this no doubt they would have a tear in their eyes, it is written with so many emotions that are rattling around inside yourt heart, I feel your emotions clearly through this poem, shame there is not a 10/10 because it would get that, it is well worthy of 5/5/

I can promise you this, I wont be leaving until I am very old and c ant see the screen anymore lol *huggies*

Philly, sweetpea, there are reasons I left that are not worth upsetting the entire site. I love you and I miss you and I check into the site everyday offline to make sure all is well. I am available to you at any time that you need me. I am not deleting my account and will put my info back if that will please you. Who knows, I might post a poem occasionally just for you. I love you, sweetie, know that please. I will not forget you or leave you, just best that
at the time I leave the site. But I am always here with you and in your heart. Think of me as your guardian angel. Love you, Rita

Phil ~ this is a fabulous piece dedicated to some fabulous people that will all be sorely missed ... I feel the same sentiments and thank you for voicing what I could not find the appropriate words for. You have put together a tremendous poem here.

5/5 for certain

As always, Phil rises with grace and style and releases a flurry of emotion in a simple good-bye. Goodbyes are never simple though, and often I don't feel they ARE goodbyes, just see ya around soon!!! (((((((Phil))))))))) 0:-)

Love ya girlfriend!!!!! See ya around? Soon?
Angel always...joni

Change is hard, painful, and inevitable.
Larry and I were just talking about how some of the best poetry comes out of pain. You're hurting, and your writing is growing and stretching and improving. How can I wish you anything but happiness? Sure, we all want and need to grow, but we hate to pay the bill for that.... Could I wish you good poetry as well...now, how could I not?

I find this to be one of the most powerful pieces you've written. Deeply moving and beautiful. Excellent, excellent work.

I am so late to this page (*sigh*)... but am no less moved for having been so tardy in getting here.

Phil.... Gosh... this is... I don't even know what to say. It is so true to you and to your heart, it is nearly overwhelming. Your closing brought tears to my eyes. It is so very, very moving - I don't even have words enough.

I'm with Stitchy and Andrew... your poetry has grown of late and this... this is a stand out piece. It truly is beautiful.

And of course... I, too, miss those that have stepped away. I wish them, as you do, peace always and a lifetime as incredible as the poetry they shared here.

*hugs*
