I Am Drowning In a Sea of Sight

Contributed by Doriens_Picture on Tuesday, 7th December 2004 @ 11:07:45 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I am drowning in a sea of sight
A thousand eyes peering into my soul
A thousand more tear me apart
They look past the mask and see
How truly ugly I am underneath
These eyes drown me but do not
Have the intension of killing me
Just making me suffer for what I am
They see a way to hurt me and do so
Like my worse nightmare becoming real
My worse nightmare is being me
Alone and having to face the world
Hating every moment I breathe
As if what I was breathing were poison
Killing every thing in side of me
But it still does not hurt so much
As those eyes in the water where
I want to drown my self in and die
But they still will not let me
When they are done with me
They let me go only to do so another day
Refining more and more their ways
Of making me want to kill my self
Because I see what I am to them
My ambiguous reflection in the irises
Of all the people I see out there
That’s why I want to close my self off
And not see the light of day outside
I don’t want to see anyone but also
I do not want to be seen by anyone
Because I know what they see in me
I can read there minds and feelings
It shows on their faces when they look at me
How I ugly I really am and how they all
Just love to hate me
They took more sympathy on the elephant man
Than they do so on me
So this is my last goodbye to this world
Because all I really want to do is
Just die.

hey this is an excellent poem, it really expresses how people feel, although it might seem hard now...you have to stop being so hard on yourself......everyone at some stage in their life feel this way....just remember people will only see you in the way that you should be seen and if they don't like it they are not worth knowing...it is better to be seen than to have not been seen at all.

John you are absolutely gorgeous on the inside,
People that judge you should may be take a look at themselves once in awhile because they arent anything to look at or special!
You are very special.......

Love
Stace xx

A beautiful and honest poem and for that I
give it an A+. Don't worry if people think your
ugly they don't know you so why should thier
unasked for opinion matter? A person's
outward person does not reflect their inner
self and if poetry does then on the inside you
are beautiful beyond measure.

powerful and emotional write. why care what others think first of all? they have control over their minds, you dont, so why care? most of the people in life you meet wont be there for the rest of your life. a lot of strangers are only in your life for the moment you see them. so why care about people that go away. it only matters what you think. and since that is all that matters, you need to think better about yourself. if i can do it, anyone can. =]
